There are many other applications for ReproScan and BoviScan veterinary ultrasound equipment. Our ultrasound units have been used to pregnancy test bison and sows. On fish farms, ReproScan equipment has been used to separate male fish from female fish. Call us to discuss your unique application and we will be very interested in helping you.
Bison – Bison may be scanned very similar to beef cows. Please visit the Cow Calf page to learn more. Recommended ultrasound units for bison pregnancy testing are the ReproScan XTC and BoviScan Curve. Most people using scanning bison use the Bright LCD Monitor to display the image.
Pigs – Sows may be pregnancy tested after day 18. Most pig producers scan sows at 21 to 30 days post breeding. Recommended ultrasound units for scanning sows are the BoviScan S60 and ReproScan S-100. The BoviScan S60 is similar to the BoviScan Curve but the probe is changed to a C60 T handle. The S-100 is a mechanical sector scanner. These units are not displayed on the website at this time. Please contact ReproScan for further information about ultrasound equipment for your pig operation.
Sheep and Goats – Sheep and goats are often pregnancy tested between 45 and 90 days after breeding. Ideally sheep and goats are scanned at a stage of gestation (45 to 80 days) when multiple fetuses can be detected accurately. Recommended ultrasound units for scanning sheep and goats are the BoviScan S60, ReproScan LED with a C60 T handled probe and ReproScan S-100. The BoviScan S60 is similar to the BoviScan Curve but the probe is changed to a C60 T handle. The S-100 is a mechanical sector scanner. These units are not displayed on the website at this time. Please contact ReproScan for further information about ultrasound equipment for your sheep or goats operation.
Fish – It is often economical to determine the gender of fish using portable ultrasound equipment. Breeding female fish on Salmon farms and Black Cod farms may be separated from the males and under developed females using 6.5 MHz linear rectal probe ultrasound units such as the BoviScan Linear or ReproScan LED with a 6.5 MHz linear rectal probe. Please contact the ReproScan office to learn more about ReproScan ultrasound applications for fish farms.
