Training Course FAQs

Why should I attend a ReproScan Training Course?

We’re glad you asked! Training is at the heart of what we do here at ReproScan, and we work hard to make sure that our customers walk away excited and confident from each course. The course will cover calling pregnant/open, fetal aging, and fetal sexing, as well as coaching on extension arm technique. These RACE-Approved Courses will provide you with 9 Continuing Education Credits and are a great opportunity to get hands-on experience with highly-trained instructors.

What is the general structure of a ReproScan Training Course?

Our courses begin with an afternoon lecture, covering everything from the basics of how the ultrasound unit works to calling multiples, fetal sexing, and abnormalities. The evening provides an opportunity to gather and network with other veterinarians attending the course as well as the ReproScan instructors.

The next day, we start in the morning with our wet lab, and this is where the real magic happens! Participants get one-on-one assistance at the chute with the hands-on use of the ultrasound, and we provide additional monitors with another instructor to provide instruction for those not currently ultrasounding. Talking through what you’re seeing and discussing with other participants can help foster an awesome, collaborative learning environment. We keep these classes small intentionally (usually around 10 participants) so that we can focus in on what you’re hoping to learn, whether it’s calling pregnant and open, perfecting your extension arm technique, or honing in your fetal sexing skills!

How much does the course cost?

Our 9-CE credit courses are $895, and you are responsible for your hotel room and travel.

How do I receive my RACE Credit?

We collect your DVM License Number and the state that you are licensed in, and will put that information into the CE Broker system upon your completion of the course. You will also receive a certificate from us, proving your attendance at our course. If you have questions about this process, such as your states’ requirements, feel free to give us a call.

What if I can’t make it to a course?

We try our best to schedule courses in areas where there is interest, but factors like date, cattle, and participants dictate when and where we are able to hold courses. If you would like to get to a course, but there isn’t one in your area this year, give us a call. We would like to hear from you regarding your interest, and we will put your area on our “wish list”, and put forth an effort to hold a course there in the future if there is enough interest! Additionally, if you know of a great spot to hold a course near you, please contact us.

If you aren’t able to make an in-person course, we highly recommend our new online training course. This is an interactive course covering the basics of bovine ultrasound, including basic functionality of ultrasound technology, calling pregnant/open, fetal aging, and extension arm ultrasound. One of our favorite features of this course is how many ultrasound scans it contains. You will get to see many different scans, over a variety of fetal ages, with helpful voiceovers, walking you through the scan. You can access the course here: Basics of Bovine Ultrasound. The course costs $300, which will give you 30 days of access to the content. This course is not RACE-approved, and while we would still recommend attending an in-person course, this can give you a great refresher before busy season!
